We’re always looking for the opportunity to publish great books. Please check out our submission guidelines below.

You do not need to be a Mayo author or writing about Mayo to submit. We are looking for books which contain the essence of the place for which the press is named. We are interested in books on heritage, the environment, sports, the arts, nature, and history. We’re always open to new ideas, books that fall between categories, books that wow us. A great way to tell if our press is the right home for your book is to read some of our titles.

Submissions Guidelines

We currently have three open submission windows annually:

• November 1st-30th
• January 1st-31st
• July 1st-31st

All submissions outside these dates will be deleted without being read.

To submit your work, please send a synopsis, a sample of your manuscript and a cover letter to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please put ‘submission’, your name, and the genre of your manuscript in the subject line of the email. For example, ‘Submission, Joe Bloggs, nature writing’.

Sample: Please send no fewer than 3,000 and no more than 10,000 words in a Word doc or PDF. They do not need to be sequential chapters.

Cover letter: tell us a little bit about yourself, your writing and publishing experience and your favourite reads.

We accept submissions from agented and un-agented authors. We read all submissions and will respond within twelve weeks.
